Hello. This post is specially adddressed to all those who do competitive sports.
Did you know that over training is bad? You're supposed to push yourself to the limit, not go beyond what your body can actually do. If you let training take over your life, then you're overtraining. I know it's important to train and keep fit and stuff, but, at the same time, keep up your other interests too. Like, if you're a social butterfly, then you should hang out with your friends and not eat, sleep and breathe training. Actually, if you overtrain, you won't be able to perform to the best of your capabilities when it really matters, because your body will be tired because you forced yourself to run an extra 20 miles, or swim for another hour, even though you know you can't do it. If you overtrain, then the only way to recover is to take a couple of weeks/months off, and no athlete wants to do that. Sometimes, when your muscles feel slugish and weary and you can't actually do anything, the you know you are overtraining.
I sincerly hope i don't sound like your granny on this, but i think it's important, and you should, too.
